Agitator

Industrial mortar mixer with Load Controls PMP-25 for motor protection and consistent material mixing performance.

Agitators keep process fluids in suspension, prevent settling, and maintain consistent conditions throughout a vessel and the load on an agitator motor reflects the state of the fluid inside in real time. Changes in fluid density, temperature, solids content, or level all affect how hard the agitator motor works, producing measurable shifts in power draw.

Load Controls' power sensors monitor agitator motor true power draw continuously, giving process engineers a non-invasive window into vessel conditions without any contact with the process fluid. Rising load signals increasing density, viscosity, or a mechanical issue in the agitator mechanism; falling load indicates a drop in fluid level or a loss of product in the vessel. Configurable alarms and automatic responses allow operators to act on these signals immediately, protecting equipment and maintaining process consistency. All sensors are non-invasive, install at the motor control panel, output standard 0–10V, 4–20mA, and Modbus signals, and are manufactured in the USA to ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Q: Can agitator load monitoring detect when a vessel is running low on product?

Yes. As fluid level drops, the agitator encounters less resistance and motor load falls, our sensors detect this drop and can trigger an alarm before the vessel runs empty.

Q: How does the sensor detect a mechanical issue in the agitator mechanism?

Bearing wear, shaft misalignment, or impeller damage all change the agitator motor's load profile in characteristic ways. Our sensors track these changes over time, supporting early maintenance intervention.

Q: Is agitator monitoring suitable for high-temperature or pressurised vessel applications?

Yes. Our sensors install at the motor control panel with no connection to the vessel, making them fully compatible with high-temperature, pressurised, or sealed agitator applications.
