Infeed Control

Maintaining consistent infeed rate is critical in continuous process operations, too much material and the process is overwhelmed; too little and throughput suffers. Manual infeed adjustment is slow to respond to process changes and introduces variability that affects product quality and equipment reliability.

Load Controls' power sensors provide a continuous, real-time motor load signal that directly reflects process conditions, enabling automatic infeed control that responds instantly to changes in material consistency, density, or resistance. As motor load rises above target, the infeed rate is reduced; as it falls below target, infeed increases keeping the process running at its optimal load level continuously. Because our sensors measure true power rather than just current, the control signal is accurate and stable even as process conditions vary. All sensors are non-invasive, install at the motor control panel, output standard 0–10V, 4–20mA, and Modbus signals, and are manufactured in the USA to ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Q: What types of process equipment can infeed control be applied to?

Any motor-driven process equipment where infeed rate affects motor load - including chippers, refiners, mixers, grinders, and conveyors can benefit from Load Controls infeed control.

Q: How does the sensor output connect to the infeed control system?

Our sensors provide a standard 0–10V or 4–20mA analog output that connects directly to variable speed drives, PLCs, or other control systems managing the infeed mechanism.

Q: Can infeed control work alongside overload protection on the same sensor?

Yes. Load Controls sensors can simultaneously provide infeed control output and overload protection, using the same power measurement for both functions from a single unit.
