Blowers

Industrial ventilation fans using Load Controls PMP-25 for motor load monitoring, equipment protection, and predictive maintenance.

Blowers are critical to aeration and ventilation processes across water treatment, chemical, and industrial facilities and like all motor-driven equipment, their performance is directly reflected in their motor's power draw. A blower running against a closed damper, a blocked inlet, or a failing bearing places abnormal load on its motor long before any visible sign of trouble appears.

Load Controls' power sensors monitor blower motor true power draw continuously, detecting overload conditions, blocked flow situations, and abnormal load patterns the moment they develop. When load rises above or falls below configured thresholds - indicating a blockage, damper issue, or loss of load the sensor triggers an alarm or automatic shutdown before equipment damage occurs. All sensors are non-invasive, install at the motor control panel with no contact with the process, output standard 0–10V, 4–20mA, and Modbus signals, and are manufactured in the USA to ISO 9001:2015 standards.

Q: How does the sensor detect a blower running against a closed damper?

A closed damper causes the blower to work against excessive back pressure, driving motor load above its normal operating range. Our sensors detect this rise and trigger an alarm or shutdown before the motor is damaged.

Q: Can the sensor detect a blower running with no load such as a broken belt or coupling?

Yes. A loss-of-load condition causes motor power draw to drop below the configured low set point, triggering an alert that the blower is running unloaded.

Q: Are the sensors compatible with variable speed blower drives?

Yes. Load Controls offers models compatible with variable frequency drives, accurately measuring true power draw even as blower speed varies.
